Abstract

The recent controversy involving four senior most judges of the Supreme Court against the Chief Justice of India has created a wave of discussion pertaining to the power held not only by the Chief Justice of India but also the Chief Justices of various high courts. Through a letter of dismal by these four judges to the Chief Justice of India, they have shown how there exists a line of consistent abuse of power and partiality in allotment of cases in the Supreme Court. This has made the whole nation question as to what the restriction can be placed on the „Master of Roster‟, a convention followed for the past thirty years. In an attempt to resolve this, we should be aware that there is no shortterm solution to this problem. Only a complete overhaul of the approach taken by judicial members can bring back the glory days.
