| dc.description.abstract | This article compares the competition/antitrust laws of India and Canada, with special reference to issues concerning international trade, foreign investment, and economic development. It highlights similarities in the structure of corporate ownership and the changing nature of state intervention in the two countries. It then outlines the historical evolution of their competition laws, revealing several similarities and differences. The article concludes with a case study of a Canadian export cartel, which is exempted from Canadian competition law but has harmful effects on development priorities in India and poses a challenge for the extra- territorial application of India’s Competition Act. | |
